Travel Web Sites

We just got an email from another poser travel site. After investigating what looked like a good spend for
advertising, I find out what the site really was. They pretend to help our rental business for a reasonable cost
and deliver rentals to the Homeowners we are responsible to. Yet again we had contact with another poser.

These sites pretend to help you the consumer, yet their entire business is built around extorting the very
services they recommend. Their sites have in the title helper, expert, advisor or other such namesand offer
helpin areas they really have no knowledge of. All they really know is how to suck a buck from legitimate
business like ours and send you to us with no knowledge of our integrity. In fact, many vacation home sites are
nothing but meat markets. They put hundreds even thousands of houses on their sites and once again, know
nothing about the result of their ads. These sites span from complete spammers to legitimate businesses like
VRBO.

I would not mind so much if they knew the difference from one company to another since we would win in that
game. Long term integrity, quality of service, and repeat business never even enters the business model of
most sites. Instead, if you will buy the ad they will advise their consumer to spend money with that company
without any knowledge of who they are recommending or what service you would get. You being the person
they are pretending to help. To me, this is similar to fraud. They pretend to help and advise you, but that is not
what they are about at all. If they advertised that they were there to sell ads and nothing else, at least you
would then do your homework. Instead all to often, the consumer sees their recommendations as good advice.

Our business is built on really helping you while we make a buck doing it. We do not pretend to do otherwise.
We do not get a penny for this reference site. This site, The Baja Experience, costs money and the most
valuable of assets, time. It was designed and built to enhance your stay in the Ensenada Area and keep you
informed about the area. Numerous people search this site everyday for things like fishing in the Baja,
Ensenada Wineries, or other travel information about the northern Baja. We are pleased that unlike most sites,
we are adding value to trips that do not even stay at our Rentals. We intend to continue this tradition because
this aid we give other guests also applies to our guests. You can rest assured that when we recommend a
business on this site, we have done business with them and think they are great. So whether it is an ad, article,
or information about a business it would not be there with out our full recommendation! The guests staying in
our Beach Houses this year are about 90% repeats. That is what you want in any vacation business. We are
always pleased to know they come back again and again. This is proof that we have done our job well and our
guests remember this.

On a completely opposite note, we need to mention those who are doing it differently. Recently as our site has
gained additional exposure, we started looking at who was looking at us. We noticed that a few sites were
watching our growth in "Google Search" awareness. The Mexican Guru
http://www.mexicoguru.com/ensenada.php searched our site for it's pertinence to the area we cover. Wow, what
a concept. They were interested in what we had to offer before wanting our ad money. We have recently
advertised for free on their site since we realize that in at least this case "Guru" was truly who they try to be.
We will spend advertising dollars on their site in the near future and probably forever because they have set
themselves aside from the posers that dominate the internet. There are some new sights that are trying to do
what we do. ensenadabeachvacation.com is a new site that is trying hard to set an integrity trend. I don't know
if it will work, but this site will not take ads or display them from anyone they have not done business with. In
other words, if you have not made them or their secret agents happy, they will not advertise for you. Cool. I like
this trend and want to support it.

You as the consumer must be better informed. Do not assume any web site has your best interest in mind
unless you have done business with them before. Remember when integrity in business was everything or am I
just old? Demand it.
