ENSENADA HAS QUITE A FEW NEW RESOURCES (Wisdom Page)
Come on people, this is not the 70's down there. We get quite a few questions on where to shop if our guests
want to shop on the way down. This is smarter than most will realize. With the Peso where it is to the Dollar
you are smart to buy most of what you need for your vacation down there not in the US. With the Dollar To
Peso range of late, you can save considerable money by loading up on the way down. Remember pay
everything in Pesos.

As described in other pages of this site, you need only stop at one of the many Cambios and exchange your
US Dollars into Pesos. In most cases this will give you at least a 27% increase in your spening power. Think
about it like this if you spend a $100.00 Dollars in the states on the way down, you could have spent $70.00
instead.

Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, and numerouse Grocery Stores are on the road just south of Ensenada. Even
Applebees restaurant are you choice in this area. Even I am wowed at the choices we have these days. We
recently stopped at Costco and bought meat and cheeses we are used to seeing in the US. Also they have
quite the wine selection, I admit I was surprised.

There is even a new Calimax right on the road to La Bufadora and this is a full service grocery store. Don't
embarrass yourself buy buying Tortillas in the states. They do not compare to the worst in the Baja.

I remember the trips where we bought everything to make a trip to the Baja before we left the states. That was
then this is now. We do all of our spending after we visit one of their cambios in Ensenada.

You can do this with or without spanish. Part of your planning should be where you exchange dollars for pesos
and then purchase your trip's supplies!
